Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney had the pleasure of honoring local talent when she was invited to attend "An Artistic Discovery," the 25th Annual Congressional Art Competition. This competition features great creative talent from the nation's aspiring High School Art talent and is part of a nationwide contest for high school students providing an excellent opportunity for national exposure. click here to view more photos
Congresswoman McKinney congratulates Desean Burnette (first prize), Trocey Garrett (second prize), Adrienne Phifer (third prize) and all of the participants of this year's contest.
One student from each district is selected for the honor of having his or her artwork displayed in the US Capitol Building Cannon Tunnel. The Cannon Tunnel is in the main thoroughfare for Members of the House to reach the House floor from their offices and is traveled by thousands of visitors each year.
This years top three winners from Congresswoman McKinney's 4th District of Georgia were announced at "District Day" held at The City Hall Complex of Lithonia, Georgia. The top three contestants receive scholarships from The Art Institute of Atlanta. Other contestants will have their art displayed in the 4th District Congressional office in Decatur GA. |
