REP. CYNTHIA MCKINNEY AWARDS OVER $4.5 MILLION FROM LEGISLATION SHE PROPOSED OR SPONSORED
In an awards ceremony scheduled for Monday, June 26 at 10:00 am at her Congressional office Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney recognized the wide range of 4th District agencies she has supported by initiating or backing legislation to grant them a total of $4,570,000 for public projects to benefit residents of DeKalb County.
Congresswoman McKinney presented mock checks to each agency for their community project, representing funding sought from Congress.
DeKalb agencies invited included MARTA, Georgia Transit Center, Clarkston Community Center and Red Hills Natural Food Cooperative. The MARTA funding will provide funding for Smart Card technology and additional buses that run on cleaner fuels.
Congresswoman McKinney and County Commisssioner Larry Johnson worked together to get funding approved for much-needed recreation centers in the District.
Chamblee and Lantern Ridge communities will also benefit from noise abatement funding.
